Well we finally made it to the top! Well by that we mean the 10th floor at the CBC studios here in Toronto! That’s the spot where the fierce dragons reside from the fabulous CBC hit series ! Dragon’s Den!
The Wine Ladies were invited to attend the last day of shooting for the season by none other than W. Brett Wilson known as “the dragon with a heart”. It was a thrill to meet him. After being told by his first employer that he wasn’t management material, Brett proved the doubters wrong, and translated his instincts for investing in the right people into major stakes in the energy, agriculture, real estate, sports and entertainment industries. Making deals worth over $150 billion. We watched him in action on the show and we are not surprised by his success.

When off the set we met Jim Treliving, the man behind Boston Pizza, Canada’s #1 casual dining brand. We were immediately captivated by his charisma and approachability. Large in stature, tall with a commanding presence, Jim is the tough guy with a soft spot for a good deal and a delicious meal. Within a few brief moments he revealed to us another soft spot! our signature oversized wine glasses! “Where can I get a couple of those he asked?” “The Wine Ladies.com” we respond in harmony. Hey Jim, maybe we can make a deal, two signature Wine Ladies glasses for a pitch in the Den?

Soon thereafter as we entered the Dragon’s Den and began to handle the bundles of $100’s and $50’s we spotted a “spotted” or polka dotted, simply divine pair of shoes. High enough to rival the heels of Susanne’s Manolo Blahniks and so stylish, we knew instantly this was our kind of woman! a marketing genius, the powerhouse Arlene Dickinson. Friendly yes, but no nonsense, this petite Dragon can dish it out with the best of them. No amount of collective testosterone is going to harness this brilliant mind; she’s got it all, smarts, sensitivity and beauty. Way to go Arlene!
