LCBO BBQ FOR CAMP OOCHIGEAS RESCHEDULED FOR JUNE 22 –HELPS SEND KIDS WITH CANCER TO CAMP
LCBO and its suppliers are presenting the 21st annual Queens Quay
barbecue in support of Camp Oochigeas on Friday, June 22. An earlier
date for the annual event was postponed due to rain and high winds. This
fundraiser is open to the public and all proceeds go to Camp Oochigeas, a
year-round camp for children with cancer.
LCBO President & CEO Bob Peter and the Queens Quay store staff will present Andrew Irvine, Vice Chair, Camp Oochigeas Board of Directors, with a cheque for $160,217 representing the anticipated proceeds from this year’s barbecue and donations from suppliers participating in year-round LCBO in-store tastings. The LCBO and its suppliers have raised more than $1.2 million for Camp Oochigeas in the last 20 years.
Fundraising activities include skill-testing games and a silent auction table with some 300 items, including vacation packages, electronics and unique gift baskets. There will also be live music.
Located on a private lake outside Rosseau, Ontario, “Camp Ooch”, as the kids affectionately call it, offers eight weeks of summer camp for children affected by cancer. It also provides weekendsat camp throughout the fall and winter, day camp programs and year-round programming at The Hospital for Sick Children and Ooch Downtown, its urban camp facility in Toronto. Camp Ooch is the only residential camp in Ontario to provide on-site chemotherapy and blood transfusions.
