White wines too cold can be dull
Dear Wine Ladies,
I usually keep my white wines in the fridge until we’re ready to open them. Is it possible to serve white wines too cold?
Barb
Dear Barb,
Definitely. The colder the wines are when served, the more dulled the aromas and the flavors will be. Lesser quality wines might actually fare better when served very cold as the absence of fruit and good flavor of the wine won’t be quite as noticeable. Fuller bodied, aged or high quality white wines should be served a little warmer to better appreciate their quality and wonderful attributes.
