Robert Mondavi Cabernet Sauvignon 2009 Napa Valley… “Godfather of the California wine movement” and the ‘King of grapes” reign victorious with this wine.
Bold, yet supple, elegant, with velvety tannins, the wine is concentrated and rich with blackberry and cassis, combined with spicy oak elements and slight toasty oak. There is a bright acidity and a lengthy finish. www.robertmondavi.com

TO KALON VINEYARD, Planted originally in 1868
Robert Mondavi is located in the heart of the Napa Valley, the home to the historic and famed estate To Kalon vineyard in Oakville. Thirty-one percent of the grapes for this wine are sourced from To Kalon with the balance from most renowned sub-regions Stag’s Leap and Oakville. Of this wine Genevieve Janssens, Director of Winemaking had this to say “The extraordinary quality of this wine originates in Napa Valley’s generous terroir. When I taste this, I’m reminded why Cabernet Sauvignon is the varietal on which Robert Mondavi built his reputation”
We thoroughly enjoy this wine with great food and great friends and take out a copy of the indefatigable Margrit Mondavi’s latest book ” Sketchbook, Reflections on Wine, Food, Art, Family, Romance and Life”. We are reminded of a conversation we enjoyed with Margrit, full of life, of zest, of passion, what a lady… and here is one of our favourite quotes she shared with us “
“When you clink glasses, It’s said that if you don’t look one another in the eye…you’ll be cursed with seven years of bad sex!” Like we said… what a lady! We love you Margrit!
