 Well we surely have plenty reason to pop the cork for Canada’s 150th birthday and that is exactly what we are going to do today with our featured wineries from different wine regions, Ontario, Nova Scotia and British Columbia.

This region hugs the Atlantic side of North America, and is one of the most challenging places to grow wine grapes in the world, but it works. Nova Scotia folks, now being touted by many as “Canada’s next great wine region!

We’re so looking forward to chatting with winemaker Jean-Benoit Deslauriers of the multi award winning winery Benjamin Bridge Estate Winery located in the Gaspereau Valley of Nova Scotia, here are a couple of quotes describing the winery’s bubbly!

Our first winery from here locally in Ontario, most suitable for Canada’s birthday, the wine is called Frisky Beaver… Don’t you love it, the winery also has another label Smoke & Gamble… the Rapscallion Wine Company is situated in an emerging wine region Norfolk County which is aiming to become Ontario’s next VQA appellation.
And that used to be at one time the tobacco belt, no longer, wine grapes are staking a claim and making some fantastic wine! 

 So joining us to fill us in on whats happening in the region, and fill us in on what’s up with the Frisky Beaver, selling out and winning multiple  awards is Brock Marshall. Brock is in Sales, Marketing and Operations at Rapscallion, Brock to be our first guest.

Our first guest will be the President and CEO of Château Gassier .  A company involved in growing vineyards in this spectacular region for 5 generations, Olivier Souvelain.

Originating from Barcelonnette (Hautes-Provence) and part of the Provencal nobility since 1421, the Gassier family bought Château Gassier and its 40 hectares of vines in 1982.

Today the vineyard is managed by Georges Gassier, who represents the fifth winegrowing generation of the family, working with the support from his father.

It is only over time that passion, hard work and know how combined, have helped Château Gassier to develop its exceptional potential for excellence.

Craft Winemaking Experience April 27th, 2017.

Our very popular Craft Winemaking Workshops are held most Thursdays from 7 – 9pm at the store. These fun and informative workshops are the perfect way to find out more about Craft Winemaking. During the two hour workshop you will get to taste some excellent wines (white, roses and reds) as well as some basic food pairings. You will also have a hands-on experience of both making some wine and of bottling wine. This workshop is the perfect night out for couples looking for something different for date nite or for small groups looking to spend an evening out enjoying some great wines and having fun with friends.

The group features Emily Steinwall on voice and saxophone, Hayden Farrar on upright bass, David Steinmetz on drums and Brian Dickinson on piano.
