To start off we’ll go back almost three centuries and nine generations to the iconic wine region of Burgundy. Today we will feature one of the oldest Maison in Burgundy. is the largest vineyard owners in the supremely coveted region of the Cote d’Or of Burgundy. We will be chatting with family member and Export Manager Luc Bouchard. We’ll explore the history of the region as well as the company, its fascinating history, the vineyards. And of course the deep cellars underground housing over 2000 bottles from the 1800’s, their iconic wines and much more.

We had the pleasure to meet Luc about a month ago, we tasted some great wines, we look forward to welcoming him to the show!

This Malbec has aromas of plum and blueberry with spice and peppery notes. Dry with good aroma replays. Structured with soft tannins and a solid fruity finish.

Las Barrancas is in a stunning location with premium quality soils, ideal climate and environment, located in Mendoza, in the district of Maipu within the Mendoza River highland. In the area, at around 750 meters above sea level, more than 400 hectares belong to Pascual Toso.

It is a heterogeneous terroir, an uneven piece of land going down 7 meters, where stretch soils with bare rock in which grapes stand up with all its quality, to deeper soils with green coverage.

Las Barrancas possess excellent conditions for climatic agriculture, with warm days and fresh nights, low humidity relative and high heatstroke what is translated in vineyards with excellent quality of fruits and sanity. The water for irrigation comes from the snow of the Andes mountain trough the main River of the county, “Mendoza River”. Organic matter is very scarce due to the quick decomposition it goes through because rains are not heavy and there is intensive cultural activity. Although the soils are of similar origin, various textures may be found in small areas.

The Anchor Bar, Burlington is the venue, home of the Original Buffalo Chicken wings first created in Buffalo, New York back in 1964. Although many have tried to duplicate the Buffalo wing, the closely guarded secret recipe is what makes the AnchorBar chicken wings the “Best Wings in the World”. These amazing chicken wings now available in Burlington.

Accomplished jazz musician, Emily Steinwall will be regularly performing accompanied by different musicians on the Wednesdays. Emily Steinwall in an emerging tenor saxophone player, flautist and bandleader in Toronto’s jazz scene.

“Steinwall has taken her love for the saxophone a long way in a short time, and has a pure, lyrical tone on the instrument. Her collaborative project Bloom is a quartet featuring fellow graduates of the Humber College program, and it derives influences from many styles of music including folk and classical. It is contemporary, ethereal, gorgeous music with influences from leaders like Mark Turner, Seamus Blake and Kurt Rosenwinkel.”

Valpolicella is a wine that comes from the region of Veneto, located in the north-east of Italy, home of the “big gun” Amarone and of Romeo and Juliet! When a Valpolicella is classified as a Classico and done in the ripasso method. The methodology of “ripasso” greatly concentrates the bouquet, flavours and texture. How? “Ripasso” literally means “re-passed”.

After the fermentation process when producing an Amarone, the unpressed skins of the dried grapes are then used for the production of Valpolicella. These dried grape skins add body, character, complexity and a boost of alcohol strength.

Our Negrar Ripasso Valpolicella Classico is dark ruby red in colour, is seductive in the nose with lush blackberry and black liquorice notes and a hint of mint. Full bodied with a touh of vanilla the texture is rich and with a good finish.

Craft Winemaking Experience April 27th, 2017.

Our very popular Craft Winemaking Workshops are held most Thursdays from 7 – 9pm at the store. These fun and informative workshops are the perfect way to find out more about Craft Winemaking. During the two hour workshop you will get to taste some excellent wines (white, roses and reds) as well as some basic food pairings. You will also have a hands-on experience of both making some wine and of bottling wine. This workshop is the perfect night out for couples looking for something different for date nite or for small groups looking to spend an evening out enjoying some great wines and having fun with friends.
