Júlia Florista (1883-1925): Flower seller during the day, Fado singer at night. A true bohemian soul known in the old streets of Lisbon and taverns alike for her breathtaking fado singing. Her life and death had all the ingredients of a fado song… (Although short lived she left us 2 precious vinyl records named: “Espirito Fado”). We dedicate these wines to her memory.

What’s your Port personality? Senhora do Convento, the 9th generation Port producer.

Continuing along “what’s special to put in your glass”, why not think and drink Port? This delectable, world famous fortified wine from the Douro region of Portugal was officially created in 1675 and enjoys quite a history. We’ll learn all about that and one particular 9th generation Port producer Senhora do Convento. We welcomed Victoria Gilbert, Marketing Director of Artemis Productions and for Senhora do Convento.

Listen to Victoria Gilbert at 25.25 minutes into the show.

Senhora do Convento

Port wine is produced in a carefully delineated part of the Douro region that extends 100km east of the city of Porto covering an area of 74,130 acres. The vineyard is essentially strewed on terraces, classified according to a quality range that considers the soils’ quality, the sun exposure and the varieties of grapes.

Senhora Do Convento produces sensuous red table wines from three claasic Portugeuse varietals: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz. All which are grown on the property. Our table wines are aged in French oak barrels and stainless steel tanks at the winery.
