Be greeted by a glass or two of JT Sparkling wine, upon arrival. Then meet celebrity wine maker Marco Piccoli who will take you on a winery tour and then lead you through an exclusive seated tasting in the stunning barrel cellar.

Following the tasting, Executive Chef Tim Mackiddie will share a few words on his inspiration behind the spectacular lunch menu we are all about to enjoy, all recipes reflecting the theme of wine and chocolate. Tasted wines will served throughout the lunch.

Meet the winemaker Jamie Macfarlane and his partner and fellow proprietor Karen.  Specializing in icewine, often referred to as Canada’s “liquid gold” Jamie and Karen’s boutique winery was  recently featured on Dragon’s Den, showcasing their specialties which include their ever popular Vidal Icewine Slushie. Simply divine, we’ll enjoy this unique and delicious cocktail paired with a dark chocolate, cherry, almond and ginger treat. Other tastings will include icewine cocktails with a nod to Valentine’s Day with red raspberry, pomegranate and possibly even rose petals making an appearance.

The party was located at Dirty Martini’s and hosted by Dr. McLean of the McLean Clinic  in Mississauga. All the ladies were greeted with a glass of the delectable Girls’ Night Out Sparkling Wine, courtesy of Colio Estate Wines, celebratory and simply delicious, along with a gift bag filled to the brim with all kinds of great goodies.

An inspiring roster of speakers, covered a range of topics including the history of the boob job, breast health, hormonal health, and more.  The Wine Ladies demonstrated the ART of Sabrage, and then  invited the host of the evening Dr. McLean, proficient with the knife albeit perhaps not a sword  to try his hand at this artful and romantic opening of the bubbly.   All proceeds to the evening went to the Betty Wallace Women’s Health Centre, The Credit Valley Hospital and Trillium Health Centre. This week we attended the Wolf Blass 2012 Luxury Collection Release wine dinner at the stunning Malaparte Restaurant located at the TIFF LightBox. We were anticipating meeting Wolf Blass himself, the man behind the iconic brand and famous bow tie! “Wolfie” as he is called did not disappoint and neither did the  four stunning wines we were privileged to enjoy.

Wolf Blass is the official sponsor of TIFF, for the second year running, and Wolf Blass is right at home on the red carpet and award ceremonies having won more awards than any other brand in the world! Wolfie, or the “Cool Wolf” as we nicknamed him last night, he really is a “dude” who appreciates living life to the fullest, embracing sports, he still skis, the arts, culture and of course amazing food and wines was totally engaging as he orated standing on the chair about the history, the present and the future plans of the company he founded over 46 years ago in 1961.

The evening was a true celebration of stupendous wines. An absolutely delicious and inspired wine and food pairing menu in a stunning venue. With Wolf Blass himself and Head Winemaker Chris Hatcher on hand to answer all our questions and entertain us. The group of wine writers, bloggers, and television personalities embraced this wonderful, totally TIFF party, as Wolf Blass is the official sponsor, for the second year running.

The stunning white and silver Malaparte provided the perfect backdrop for the evening. The tables dressed elegantly with white table cloths, floral arrangements bursting with colour and vivacity. Our dinner menu, five courses were five star, equaling the showcasing of the Wolf Blass 2012 Luxury Collection release.

The four wines included in the collection, two new Grey Labels from the 2010 Vintage. The first a Langhorne Creek Cabernet Shiraz, the blend Wolf used to create his very first wine under the Wolf Blass label in 1967.  The McLaren Vale Shiraz, a wine described as being the “definitive expression of this unparalleled Australian wine region”.
The 36th release of the iconic Black Label 2008 vintage and finally the 2009 Platinum Label Shiraz.

The fourth course, Red Wine Braised Boneless Beef Short Rib, see complete menu was Georgia’s favorite pairing with the 1998 Black Label Cabernet Sauvignon, caressing the stemware, returning over and over to the bouquet and commenting on the complexity, and finish, worth every single Cabernet Calorie!

Awesome time was had by all September 9th for our 1st Zip N Sip wine adventure. Fourteen fun and adventure seeking wine lovers joined us for a spectacular day which included the excitement zip lining and rappelling at Long Point Eco-Adventures  . Then a luxurious lunch across the Street at Burning Kiln Winery , a beautiful tasting of Burning Kiln’s wines and a walk and tour through the vineyard and winery.

Burning Kiln Winery is located on the “South Coast”. This is  an upcoming wine region, soon to be Ontario’s newest designated viticulture area.
Burning Kiln Winery enjoys the long summers, warm lake breezes and the beautiful vistas of the waters of Long Point Bay. The vineyards and winery are located in Norfolk County, just minutes from Port Dover, Simcoe. The sandy beaches of Turkey Point overlook the UNECSO designated Long Point World Biosphere Reserve. The name recalls the dangers of early tobacco farming and marks the end of this traditional farming activity. From these ashes and traditions is reborn what the early explorers Dollier and Galinee discovered and wrote about in 1669 – great land, great wine and great adventure!
