Our guest this week, the esteemed classically trained in France winemaker Pascal Madevon now working his magic at Osoyoos Larose, in Osoyoos, located at the Okanagan Valley’s southern tip in the middle of Canada’s only true desert, producing wines celebrated globally and coveted by collectors. We enjoyed a wine tasting of the ‘Le Grand Vin’ 2006 and ‘Le Grand Vin’ 2007 as well as a component sampling of varietals that make up the award winning ‘Le Grand Vin’. Osoyoos Larose Le Grand Vin is made from the classic Bordeaux varietals that are grown in the unique terroir of British Columbia’s Okanagan Valley. ‘Le Grand Vin’ 2006 VINTAGES 626325 http://www.lcbo.com/lcbo-ear/lcbo/product/details.do?language=EN &itemNumber=626325 Price: $45.00 This is a superior merlot-dominant blend that shows rich, dense flavours, but not at the expense of balance and structure. There’s a load ofcomplexity in the fruit, excellent fruit-acid balance, and still a good grip from the ripe tannins. Give it a couple of years, and drink it in the 2013-2018 window.
